Service
– An Opportunity
The
Light
Center
is offering an opportunity to share in a special project with The Twilight
Brigade Compassion In Action. In
providing an environment that supports individual and universal transformation,
the role of service is an opportunity to create Good moment by moment.
Our Goal to serve is to:
Share the rewards of service by building a sustainable community of volunteers
to provide physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and financial support to
United Research, the staff, the Light Center, the Lodge, the Land and the
Universe.
The Twilight
Brigade
Compassion In Action

The
Twilight Brigade Compassion in Action is committed to raising society’s
consciousness about the needs of the dying through community and professional
education, advocacy, and service to the terminally ill and their loved ones so
that no one need die alone.
The
dying is one of society’s most unrecognized and under-served groups.
As individuals near the end of life they are often ignored, discounted,
misunderstood and forgotten. In 1997
concerned individuals took action. The
Twilight Brigade Compassion In Action was founded under the leadership and
inspiration of Dannion Brinkley. www.thetwilightbrigade.com.
As a service organization, Twilight
Brigade trains corps of volunteers to visit patients in Veterans’ Hospitals,
Nursing Homes, Hospitals and Hospice facilities.
Based upon patient requests and needs, the volunteers provide:
reassurance and human companionship to the dying, relief and support to
loved ones and caregivers, and compassionate 24-hour attention through the last
hours, allowing people to die in peace and with dignity.
Working with the staff of Twilight Brigade, United Research will host a
20-hour training session the weekend of October 20-21 at The Light Center.
The next step after the training program will be to determine
participant’s interest in moving forward with this service project and forming
a trial affiliate chapter of The Twilight Brigade at the
Veterans
Hospital
in
Asheville
,
North Carolina
. We are honored to participate in this project.
